One of the CSR objectives for Tatu City Limited is to cater to the educational and health & wellbeing needs of the communities in its vicinity. To fulfill this objective, Tatu City has committed itself to assisting two government-funded schools, Tatu Primary School, and Ngewe Primary Schools located within the precincts of Tatu City. In 2016 when the program started, Tatu primary had 250 students and staff members from grade 1 to grade 8. Currently, the school has a population of 372 students and staff members. At Ngewe Primary School, the feeding programme started in Q1 of 2018, where the school had a population of 242 students and teacher. To date the number has grown to 272 students and is expected to rise as time goes.
Most students in this school are from underprivileged families and cannot afford 3 meals a day. In order to improve academic performance, proper nutrition is essential. Hence, a meals program was launched with the intention to provide a decent mid-day meal on all school days throughout the year to all students and staff members at Tatu and Ngewe primary schools.
In addition to the school meal programme, Tatu City also refurbished both schools to ensure that the students have a secure and conducive learning environment.
