New U.S. Commercial Diplomacy Strategy for Africa

At the 2025 U.S.-Africa Business Summit held in Angola, the U.S. unveiled a results-driven six-point plan which prioritizes making commercial diplomacy a top priority for U.S. Ambassadors measured by “deals delivered,” working with African governments on market reforms, scaling infrastructure projects, redesigning diplomatic trips as business-forward engagements, connecting U.S. export-ready companies with African demand, and pushing for structural reforms to trade financing tools.
